Got home this evening from a day-long visit with my mother to find that Alma's Will is a finalist for a Rainbow Award in the Gay Contemporary General Fiction category. The competition will be pretty stiff. I've read a couple of the other finalists and they're damned good!

Keeping fingers crossed.

Me at 21

Maybe I should use this photo for my YA button? It's the youngest "adult" one of me I've digitalized I could find.

My 3 Dads

Hey, I'm Zane Silva, too!. That's my new pen name for my YA fiction. Zane's first novella, a Father's Day story, will be released on June 15th by Silver Stream Press. Reese Dante created this wonderful cover for it.

Huggy baby

Needed a picture for my bookshelf page.

Alma's Will

My 5th novel is scheduled for release by Silver Publishing one month from today. You can pre-order it here.

An earlier version of the book was serialized in Wilde Oats 3+ years ago. I called it a novella then because of its length, although structurally speaking it was already novel. Now it's grown by 20% and is a novel by anyone's definition.

An old woman’s dying wish to turn her house into a safe home for troubled gay teenagers stirs up painful memories and bitter resentments, but also leads to tearful reunions and—someday, perhaps—to healing.
Livia Redding returns to Macon, Georgia, with her husband and children after her mother’s death to settle her estate. She is shocked and offended to hear that the will stipulates that her house be used as a safe home for gay teenagers rejected by their families, and, against her husband’s better judgment, Liv decides to contest it and stay on in Georgia with their children.
But her mother had a reason for making the bequest: her son, Ronnie, who disappeared a quarter-century ago, after his father threw him out of the house because he was gay.

As usual, Reese Dante has designed the perfect cover for it. Once you've read it, you'll see how she's captured the moment that sets in motion the many conflicts that make up the story.

On the road

I have 2 author/reader/publisher gatherings lined up for the coming year:

1) the GRL Retreat in Atlanta - October 17-20, 2013

2) RainbowCon in Tampa - April 17-20, 2014

I'm looking forward to meeting and chatting with lots of people. Maybe I'll set up a kissing booth.
